Chingri Malai Curry (Creamy Prawn Curry) Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound prawns (shrimps)
  • 3 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon whole cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon cumin paste (soak cumin in water overnight and grind)
  • 6 green chillies (slit)
  • 1 teaspoons turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala*
  • 1 1/4 cups coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
How to cook Chingri Malai Curry (Creamy Prawn Curry):
  • Blanch the prawns (shrimps) in turmeric water.
  • Heat the mustard oil in a pan and add sugar and whole cumin seeds.
  • Add ginger paste, red chilli powder, cumin paste and turmeric powder and saute.
  • Add the prawns and slit green chillies and stir fry for few minutes.
  • Pour in the coconut milk, cook for few more minutes and then add salt.
  • Sprinkle garam masala.
  • Serve the Creamy Prawn Curry hot with steamed rice.
