Filipino Crispy Wontons (Pinsec) Recipe

Filipino Crispy Wontons (Pinsec) recipe Serves/Makes: 4 - 6

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound cleaned and finely chopped shrimps
  • 1 (6-ounce) can crab meat
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
  • Dash of garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped water chestnuts
  • 1 package wonton wrapper (sold in Oriental stores)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • Plum sauce (see the recipe below)
How to cook Filipino Crispy Wontons (Pinsec):
  • Combine all ingredients except wonton wrapper and blend very well.
  • Wrap about 1/2 teaspoon of filling in each wonton wrapper by folding one side to form a triangle.
  • Seal with a few drops of water; set aside.
  • Deep fry and drain on paper towel.
  • Serve the crispy wontons with plum sauce.

Plum Sauce Recipe

Plum Sauce Ingredients:
  • 1 cup plum preserves
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
How to cook Plum Sauce:
  • Combine all ingredients and blend very well.
  • Place in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
