Korean Dried Shrimp in Sweet Soy Sauce Recipe

Korean Dried Shrimp in Sweet Soy Sauce recipe Serves/Makes: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound Korean dried shrimps (ma rn sae woo)*, 1 - 1.5 inches in size
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 15 Korean wrinkled chili (ggwa ri go choo)**
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
How to cook Korean Dried Shrimp in Sweet Soy Sauce:
  • Wash chili, take of the tops.
  • Heat the wok, add oil, put chilies in.
  • Stir around for 2-3 minutes, add dried shrimp, stir fry for another 2 minutes or so.
  • Add soy sauce and brown sugar, keep stir until they get well mixed.
  • Turn off the heat, add sesame seed.

Comments:

The Korean name for the Dried Shrimp in Sweet Soy Sauce is Ma Rn Sae Woo Bok Eum.
* Ma rn sae woo is the Korean version of dried shrimp. It is different from Chinese one, Korean variety is dried with the shell so it's crispier and not very salty.
**Korean wrinkled chili (ggwa ri go choo) you can find in a Korean grocery. It is mild, so you can use whole chili.
