Vietnamese Steamed Crabs with Ginger Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds crabs (each halved)
  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 1/4 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • Sherry sauce (see below)
How to cook:
  • Mix cooking wine, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper evenly.
  • Place crabs on a heatproof plate and pour the wine/soy sauce mixture over.
  • Steam till just cooked or about 15 minutes. remove and garnish as liked.
  • Prepare sherry sauce.
  • Serve the steamed crabs immediately with sherry sauce.
Sherry Sauce Ingredients:
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon hot chili oil
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sherry
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Sherry Sauce Preparation:
    Combine all ingredients and heat in a wok.
