Crab Meat Cakes Recipe
Serves/Makes: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh lump crab meat
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 4 tablespoons minced onion
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons minced celery
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Tiger sauce or hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh bread crumbs
- Tartar Sauce
How to cook:
- Remove any shells from the crab meat and set aside.
- Combine the rest of the ingredients except for 1/4 cup of the bread crumbs. Carefully fold in the crab meat and distribute evenly throughout the mixture. Use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to form the cakes.
- Dredge the cakes in the remaining bread crumbs before frying. Heat 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil and 1/2 teaspoon of butter in a large non-stick skillet.
- Over a medium heat, saute the crab cakes for about 2 minutes on each side or until nicely browned and heated through.
- Serve with Tartar Sauce, lemon juice and coleslaw.
Tartar Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup finely chopped dill pickle
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon dill pickle juice
Tartar Sauce Preparation:
- Mix all Tartar Sauce ingredients together in a bowl.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
